PSA: I will be doing multiple of these types of interviews with 4 and Grey, so stay tuned for more from these guys!

I met Greyson during gym class in high school, and I was a year younger than everyone in the class and I was too nervous to try and talk to anyone, but after a while I began to talk to some of the other people in my class. Greyson was one of the first people I began talking to. Greyson always had great music taste, and was always so excited to talk about music with anyone, and we quickly became friends. I only just recently met 4TUNAT (pronounced Fortunate), as I didn't have the privilege of going to high school with him, as he lives in Atlanta, and me and Greyson are in Toronto. Talking to the two of them recently has been inspiring, they’ve been collectively releasing a song every week for months now, and their latest song , “Charli D’amelio”, named after the Tik-Tok star, has been blowing up. The two of them have never actually met in real life, though their chemistry is undeniable. The beats that Greyson makes are handcrafted for 4TUNAT’s sound and it shows, as they don’t come off as just some random beat that was made and sent over. They sound like a collaborative effort, instead of just making beats for 4TUNAT, Greyson is producing songs specifically with 4TUNAT in mind.

I had the opportunity to chat with 4TUNAT and Greyson recently and ask them some questions about how they met, how their music relationship began, and some of their plans for the future.

How did the two of you guys cross paths, given that you’re both living in different countries?

4TUNAT: We were introduced through our friend/collaborator Scottmac in a music group named AOA (Acts Of Apollo). There was another member in the group named Apompeo who informed us that his friend Grey produces. I had also heard a track that Grey produced with Apompeo which peaked my initial interest about him.

What do you guys have planned for the rest of 2020? Any plans for an album?

Greyson: We were planing on releasing a song every week which we did, but then the “Charli Damelio” record has taken on a life of its own which is great. It has currently stopped us from releasing new records, but this has helped the momentum and we are gonna get back to releasing more very soon. We plan on pushing more of these releases with more promo as well. As far as an album we will not be coming out with one unless there is a significant amount of traction around us. Little projects will be coming though, just short Ep’s.

Do you guys ever think of touring and if so what would your ideal tour look like?

4TUNAT and Grey: We would absolutely love to tour whether it be headlining or not, I’m thankful. In terms of our own tour we always think of it. One reason being to see and meet the type of people that listen to our music would be an amazing experience. Another reason would be

to see the world more and this will give me more understanding. A world tour sounds amazing but an American and UK tour sounds great as well.

How has the creation of songs changed since quarantine and how has being at home helped with music production?

4 and Grey: The creation of songs haven’t really changed at all. I think that instead the output has increased tremendously. Because of so much time that we now have. Being at home has helped because of all the time available while in the beginning it a little tough. We have been focusing on everything from flows, production elevation, to delivery and Lyric reliability. Trying to create records that people want to run back 100 times before they are done.

When did you guys decide to release a song every week?

Greyson: Well there was a short moment after and during the summer of 2019 that 4TUNAT stopped releasing music to clear his head. Then I caught myself slipping after Grey had called and sent a beat. This respired a light in us again and we wanted success more then ever. So we wanted to release a bunch of music but didn’t know the right way to go about it.

4TUNAT: Grey said to read “Its all in your head” by Russ and we decide to follow the song a week tactic. Which was quality and quantity because we took time to plan and wait to build it up.

How has that helped craft your sound and how do you think it helps going forward?

4TUNAT: The release of a song a week tactic has worked in studying the climate of the industry. We are able to see which type of song people are going towards. The fact that we release a song every week we get to consistently accommodate to everyone that is feeling a different way. This way of releasing has helped me as an artist because I have become more comfortable in myself. I have been trying a lot of new things music wise and I am expanding my vocal range in the process.

These guys are just getting started in their journey, and they are so dedicated to their passion as artists, and that is why I am going to continue to document their journey and update the world on their progress as musicians. So, stay tuned for more from 4TUNAT and Greyson Selin (and I).
